This course will provide a broad overview of mindfulness practice, its origins, benefits and reasons to practice, meditation instructions, and periods of meditation practice (guided and unguided).
The basic format will be a brief sitting period (on a chair or a cushion) to “pause” at the beginning; check-in if people want; a brief talk by me (on subjects such as mindfulness of breath, body, emotions, thoughts etc., compassion, and bringing mindfulness to everyday life); a longer sitting period about 20 minutes with some guidance; a stretch; a Q&A period; & a brief closing.
Linda Haller, MD has been meditating for over 30 years, with Jack Kornfield as her main teacher. She is finishing a 2-year Mindfulness Meditation Teacher Certification Program taught by Jack Kornfield and Tara Brach. She is also an obstetrician-gynecologist, currently working in Concord doing ObGyn and teaching Family Practice Residents in the NH Dartmouth Family Medicine Program. She used to work at Speare Hospital, and still lives in Campton with her 2 cats. She has received so much benefit from mindfulness meditation herself that she wants to share the practice and its gifts.
